Predicting 2nd Round Picks For Big Blue

The New York Giants currently hold the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which has led to them being a well-discussed topic of conversation this offseason; mostly due to the unpredictability of who their selection will be. But what about what happens after day one in Green Bay? Who has general manager Joe Schoen been targeting as a potential steal on a weekend that could define his career in East Rutherford? Tonight, Giants Fare uncovers the top contenders for the 34th overall pick for the G-Men.

  1. Jalen Milroe (QB, Alabama)

The Crimson Tide quarterback’s passing stats took a massive dip in 2024, but with the departure of Nick Saban at the end of the 2023 season, Alabama struggled as a whole. That being said, Milroe is much more of a project than the other prospects on this list, but he still shows large amounts of upside, primarily in his running ability. Milroe accounted for an astounding 20 touchdowns on the ground this past season, and if he can return to form in the passing game with the help of Giants head coach Brian Daboll, a man who was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Saban in 2017 (a championship season for the Tide) along with the tutelage of QB’s Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, than he can be a valuable dual-threat weapon for years to come under an NY helmet.

  1. Cam Skattebo (RB, Arizona State)

This may very well be the deepest running back pool in terms of pure talent in the history of the NFL Draft. There are at least five ball carriers in the 2025 class that have the potential to be Pro Bowlers and even future Hall of Famers. Due to the high number of gifted backs, along with the league’s history of conservation when selecting them, it’s entirely likely that the explosive Skattebo could fall right into the Giants’ lap at 33. While Tyrone Tracy showed promise for New York in 2024, he didn’t show enough to convince people that he’s the long term solution at the position. Skattebo’s combination of power running and receiving ability, which culminated in over 2,300 yards from scrimmage and 25 total touchdowns during his Senior season, show enough to lead the Giants in a two man combo with Tracy as the G-Men look to complete their healing from the Saquon Barkley debacle.

  1. Josh Simmons (OT, Ohio State)

Whether they move Evan Neal to guard or keep him at tackle, the Giants need someone new on the outside of the line. The Neal experiment has failed miserably thus far, and Josh Simmons might be the Giants best current hope at the position in the draft, considering most other top tackles are expected to be picked much higher. This o-line has been one of the worst in football over the last decade, and whether they like it or not, they need to keep trying to build it up no matter how many times they fail. The 6’5” 310-pound Buckeye would be tasked with filling a big role early in keeping Russell Wilson safe from opposing front sevens, especially with Russ’s tendency to hold on to the football in hopes of finding a deep open route.
