Absolutely devastating developments came out of East Rutherford today, as Giants superstar left tackle Andrew Thomas suffered what is most likely a season-ending foot injury during the Giants 16-play touchdown drive, their only points of the game, in Sunday night’s 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

This is a development the Giants couldn’t afford to have, as their playoff hopes are already beginning to dwindle after a 2-4 start and even more difficult competition yet to come. Thomas has been an O-line anchor since his rookie season back in 2020 and has always been considered one of New York’s most valuable pieces to a line that has resembled a saloon door since 2016 but seems to finally be approaching a renaissance this season, being ranked 14th in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus.

Thomas still has yet to have an MRI, but according to reports, Thomas himself didn’t seem too optimistic about his current situation. If Thomas’s MRI is positive and surgery is required, this new-life offensive line may be headed for a statistical nosedive for the remainder of the season. Thomas himself has only allowed 4.0 sacks over the first 6 games of the season. For the time being 2022 third-round pick Joshua Ezeudu is the next man up in the depth chart ahead of the Giants week 7 clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, himself never being properly tested at tackle, starting five games in the absence of Thomas last season before suffering a toe injury. New York is also expecting the return of rookie sensation wide receiver Malik Nabers this week, and the NFC East caboose need him now more than ever.
