The New York Giants defeated the Indianapolis Colts this afternoon 45-33 in a surprisingly high scoring game which included career days for both quarterback Drew Lock and rookie receiver Malik Nabers. Lock finished the day with 309 yards passing with four touchdowns through the air and adding one on the ground in the waning moments to seal the victory. Nabers hauled in two of said touchdowns while putting up 171 yards receiving off of 7 receptions.

Let’s get to the elephant in the room because it’s all anyone’s going to talk about come Monday. Yes, this will hurt New York in the draft. As of this morning they held the number 1 pick in what is expected to be one of their most important selections in recent memory, as is usually the case when expecting to select a quarterback. However, after today’s unexpected dub, the G-men fell to number 3 in the order.

Before everybody starts claiming the world is ending, here’s the silver lining: the Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars both won their games today, saving us from falling even further down in line. The New England Patriots currently hold the number one spot, and acquired rookie quarterback Drake Maye in last year’s draft, whom the Giants tried to trade up to get might I add, and he’s been developing well in his year-one campaign, so in all likelihood the Patriots will look to pick up the Heisman Trophy-winning WR/CB Travis Hunter while the Titans get to choose the first QB off the board. That’s all we really lost today: the option to choose.

In any case, it was relieving to see Big Blue avoid becoming the first team in NFL history to go 0-9 at home since the expansion to 17 regular season games back in 2021. Based off of the bowl games yesterday, us here at Giants Fare are all in on the prospect of drafting Miami University quarterback Cam Ward as opposed to Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, as Ward looked unstoppable until removing himself from the Pop Tarts Bowl while Sanders struggled mightily against BYU in the Alamo Bowl. In any case, Giants fans need to pay close attention to the Browns, Raiders, and Titans next week as well as to our own contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.
