Copr. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2024
Tampa Bay handed New York a crushing sixth consecutive loss as the Giants have now fallen into a complete tailspin. Quarterback Tommy DeVito was given the keys to an offense that resembled a Ford Pinto this afternoon as Big Blue was only able to amass 245 total yards in Tommy Cutlets’s season debut. While Tampa Bay, meanwhile, nearly doubled said production with 450 yards of their own.

The Good
The draft outlook is a whole lot brighter now.. It’s hard to not want this football team to show some form of life every once in a blue moon, after all, it’s within the lifeblood of the Giants to fight even if there’s nothing to fight for but pride and to provide some resemblance of an on-field product that this fanbase can be proud of. At this point however, everyone should be licking their chops at the thought of inking College Quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward to a rookie contract, and with what we’ve seen the last month and a half, it’s very likely they’ll be able to.

The Ugly
We couldn’t even add a ‘bad’ category. This one was over from the first play. The Bucs scored on their opening possession and DeVito got brutally sacked on his first drop back of the day and the tone was set from then on. Devito finished the day 21/31 with 169 yards passing and 32 yards on the ground off of 7 attempts. Tampa Bay routed New York to take a 30-0 lead in a blink in part to a Giants defensive effort that nose tackle Dexter Lawrence labeled as ‘soft.’ Baker Mayfield and Bucky Irving took advantage in turn, each with a rushing touchdown along with Mayfield going 24/30 with 298 yards to boot. The Giants offense had occasional glimmers of hope which were quickly snuffed out in the red zone including a fumble by running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the Tampa Bay 5 yard line. It appears as though head coach Brian Daboll has completely lost the locker room. When asked by reporters if playcalling affected his lack of first half targets, Malik Nabers told reporters to “talk to Dabes.” Daboll’s seat in the Big Apple has never been hotter, as the Giants might be on the verge of a complete teardown and full rebuild as the 2025 Draft draws ever closer.
