Giants Trounce Raiders 34-10 for First Victory in Three Months; Fall Out of Line For Top Pick

Copr. Newsday 2025

We’ll just get this out of the way for everybody before we get started: the author of this particular article doesn’t care about draft positioning no matter how bad our record is. If you disagree, we can’t change your mind, but consider the following:

  • We will retain one of the most valuable head coaching vacancies at the conclusion of the season
  • We have a guaranteed top-five pick (in all likelihood top two depending on the results of next week’s contests).
  • Wan’Dale Robinson got to enjoy his first 1,000 yard season of his career; just be happy for him.
  • These ridiculous Mendoza rumors would’ve only persisted if Dart didn’t play well against the worst team in the league.
  • We finally broke a road game losing streak dating back to early last season.
  • Players like Nabers, Skattebo, McFadden, etc. will be back and healthy next season along with our top draft pick.

We’re already due for a progressive season next year. We fully understand the value of trading down the higher the pick is, but we’re already set up for success regardless. Please just find a way to be happy; there were tons of positives to take away from this game. Anyways, back to business.

The New York Giants defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-10 yesterday for the G-Men’s first victory since week 6 and their first win on the road since week 5 of last season. Quarterback Jaxson Dart played his best game since returning from concussion protocol with a new head coach and offensive coordinator in week 13, going 22 of 30 for 207 yards as well as gaining 48 yards and acquiring two touchdowns on the ground.

Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, as previously mentioned, broke a unique record yesterday, becoming the shortest wideout to ever crack the 1,000 receiving yard mark over the course of a season, doing so at 5 ‘8″. Robinson has more than earned a contract extension with this team in the offseason, proving himself to be a multi faceted tool at WR who would be more than worthy of lining up next to Malik Nabers for years to come; although Big Blue may be looking to further bolster their passing game this offseason.

Defensively, Brian Burns once again earned his paycheck. The star edge rusher recorded 1.5 sacks and is now tied for fourth with Jason Pierre-Paul (2011) for the most in a single season in Giants history at 16.5. Burns would need two more sacks in the season finale to tie with Michael Strahan (2003) for third all-time.

Abdul Carter also had another productive day, accumulating 4 QB hits and half a sack as his impressive December continues. The New York secondary also got in on the fun yesterday, as linebacker Bobby Okereke and safety Dane Belton each recorded an interception at the expense of Las Vegas QB Geno Smith.

Lastly, Deonte Banks finally found a way to contribute to this team in a positive manner, returning a Raiders kickoff 95 yards to the house to put the Giants up 27-10 at the end of the third quarter. While Banks has proven himself to be a bust at cornerback over the last two years after a promising rookie campaign in 2023, he’s shown that he’d at the very least be a valuable tool on special teams, as he’s had many kickoff returns this season that have also looked impressive.

The General Consensus

We understand why a lot of fans would be upset with this seemingly meaningless victory, we really do, but no win means absolutely nothing. Momentum can very easily be carried into next season, and with a group of perennial losers such as what the New York Football Giants have been over the last three seasons, any bit of momentum can help heading into 2026. This is a talented but young team, and with a new coaching regime coming over the next few months, there’s a lot to be excited about in New York. So please Giants fans, walk into work on this Monday morning with a smile on your face. Better days are still ahead no matter where we pick in April.
